Birth / Gender Assignment
(compound noun)
The gender infants are assigned at birth, usually based on genitals alone. It is assumed that our identities should and will precisely match this assignment. This isn’t the case for transgender people. Sometimes this is shortened in text as “AGAB” or “CAGAB” where the “G” is replaced with whatever gender the person in question was assigned at birth.
e.g. Jenny decided she wasn’t going to give her child a birth assignment and would instead work to support her child figuring out their gender for themself.
