Bodily Autonomy

Bodily Autonomy

(noun)

Sometimes referred to as “bodily integrity,” bodily autonomy is the intrinsic right of a person to have self-determination and self-ownership over their own body. The core of bodily autonomy is a person’s right to informed consent, not just medically, but sexually, sensually, and in other physical aspects of our lives like gender expression.

e.g. Bodily autonomy is something that should be taught from a young age, as the disregard and hampering of one’s bodily autonomy by others can happen at any age.
