Content Note (CN)
(noun)
A content note is a short description put at the beginning of your media content (whether that be writing, video, audio, etc.) that gives your audience a forewarning of potentially upsetting or triggering content, without making a presumption about people’s triggers. It’s an alternative to the more widely known “Trigger Warnings” but somewhat removed from the right-wing twisting of that particular term and less likely to receive pushback.
e.g. We used a content note at the beginning of the Trans Language Primer to let people know that we define some terms that may be upsetting in order to advise people on how those words are wrong.
