“Disorder of Sex Development” (DSD)

“Disorder of Sex Development” (DSD)

(noun)

A largely outdated way of referring to intersex people. It’s a relic of the medicalization of intersex people and generally seen as unnecessary when there is better language to use.

e.g. Shannon knew they needed to find a new doctor when their primary care physician mentioned DSD after they came out as intersex.
