Gender Identity
(compound noun)
An individual’s internal sense of their own gender(s) or lack thereof. One’s gender identity may or may not align with their birth assignment, and one’s gender identity is not necessarily apparent to others.
e.g. Rose’s therapist asked her how she came to discover her gender identity.
