Sexually Transmitted Infection / Disease (STI / STD)

A sexually transmitted infection or disease is one that can be transmitted between people via sexual contact including vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Some may also be transmitted via blood or blood products (like plasma) and from gestational parent to child before and during birth. The majority of STIs result in no or mild symptoms. Of the 8 most common STIs, 50% are completely curable with medication, while 50% are only treatable. One of the most well known STIs is HIV.
